The controllers of the Oculus Quest 2 are designed to work in every scenario. Realistically, they do a great job. Still, the universality of the design means that it isn’t perfect for everything. Thankfully, that’s what controller adapters are for, and there are quite a few to choose from.
The same adapter or adapters you want will be based on the games you play. For example, a gunstock is great for rifle-based shooter games but less ideal for golfing. Likewise, a handle extension can be great for Beat Saber and even work for golf games, but it won’t help if you’re playing an RPG. Just as the controller can’t be perfect for everything, no single adapter can be either.
To help you find some of the best adapters on the market, we’ve drawn up our list of the best Oculus Quest 2 controller adapters in 2022.
Key Features
- Ideal for table tennis games
- May work for other racket-based games
- Ambidextrous
Specifications
- Weight: 100g
- Materials: Plastic
- Amazon rating: 4.4 from 328 ratings
The AMVR Table Tennis Paddle Grip Handle is designed to be a table tennis/ping pong bat. One of the first things you’ll notice is the unusual controller angle. This is intended to help provide a realistic balance for the bat. However, it may not be compatible with some apps as they won’t offer a proper offset. It’s primarily designed for Eleven Table Tennis, which does provide a specific controller option for it. However, it may work in other games and other racket-based games like tennis.
It’s designed to be ambidextrous, with a marked left and right side and both controllers being compatible. While the controller is held securely, there is no wrist strap, so throwing the entire thing is a risk. This risk is further increased because the handle’s plastic is smooth rather than textured for better grip.
- Designed to hold the controller securely
- Lightweight
- Designed for a realistic balance
- Unusual position of controller
- No wrist strap
- Plastic handle is smooth
Key Features
- Magnetic mounting system
- Included shoulder sling
- Keeps controllers aligned
Specifications
- Weight: 448g
- Materials: Plastic body, nylon strap
- Amazon rating: 3.2 from 260 ratings
The X-Super Home VR Rifle Gunstock is a rifle stock for VR games. While it can work in any VR games that use rifles, it only really works in games that only use rifles. Suppose the game features sidearms, melee weapons, or pickup animations. In that case, you may run into some difficulties as you’d have to unmount at least one controller mid-game and later remount it again.
The strap is excellent, mounted at two points for stability, made of tough nylon, and adjustable. The front controller mount is magnetic, making it somewhat easy to remove and reattach. The rear controller is held in with screws and so can’t be easily removed or attached in-game. As with any multi-controller adapter, the alignment may not be supported in all games. The shipping is also low quality, with just plastic wrapping.
- Great for aiming with rifles in games
- The strap is easily adjustable
- Creates difficulty if games feature anything other than rifles
- Alignment may not be supported in games
- Low-quality shipping
Key Features
- Ideal for Beat Saber
- Wrist strap included
- Soft and sweat absorbent grip
Specifications
- Weight: 130g
- Materials: Plastic, sponge
- Amazon rating: 4.1 from 561 ratings
The AMVR Dual Handles Extension Grips is a two-pack of controller handle extensions designed primarily for Beat Saber use. With their shape, the handles can also work in golf games and for wielding swords, as long as they don’t need regular button presses. The controller is held securely with a Velcro strap, while the handle has a wrist strap to keep both securely attached to you.
The handle is made of plastic and has a sponge grip for comfort and sweat absorption, though that may also be somewhat hard to clean. One of the difficulties with many controller adapters is that they can make it more challenging to use the buttons. This is partially the case here, but the buttons are all accessible.
- May work for golf and sword games
- Velcro strap to hold the controller in
- Sponge grip may be difficult to clean properly
- Can make it difficult to use the buttons
Key Features
- 112° angle
- Pre-assembled
- Unrestricted access to buttons
Specifications
- Weight: 181g
- Materials:
- Amazon rating:
The X-Super Home Pistol Grips offer a more realistic experience in pistol games. The weight isn’t too high, so it’s not too heavy. But with the black color scheme, it can look realistic at first glance, which could cause some issues. The grips have a 112-degree angle designed to work best for both ergonomic purposes and in support of game settings.
The grip design doesn’t interfere with the default wrist strap; however, it isn’t compatible with silicone grips. It’s also not an excellent fit for the controller. Some users report it being a little loose, and others declare it was leaving scratches.
- Ideal for pistol oriented games
- Doesn’t interfere with the wrist strap
- Not too heavy
- Not compatible with silicone grips
- Not a great fit
- Looks somewhat realistic
